This trip visit the most important parts of Lima, Cusco, sacred valley of the inkas and Machupicchu, is moderate active, always with option to turn in to more active, at the same time is a great train ride experience to Machupicchu, please the full ride from Poroy train station to Machupicchu station is close during the heavy rain season (December to end of February, but because of the weather conditions this can extend more), also in this trip we used as based place for the majority of the excursion Cusco so that means we don’t have to repack and change hotels too often.

Also very recommend if you want to experience the luxury train to Machupicchu (Hiram Bingham train) is worth to do it the one way of this train trip from Poroy train station to Machupicchu, this journey is during the morning in where is possible that you can enjoyed the amazing land scape with the mixture of the luxury service, if still luxury service not enough for you can ride the way back (please the way back is in the dark so you just enjoyed the service of the train).

Day 1: Arrival to Lima

Fly to Lima, capital city of Peru, located in Peru’s narrow coastal desert between the Pacific Ocean beaches and the towering Andes mountains. We meet you at Lima’s airport and transfer you to a comfortable hotel for overnight.

Day 2: Lima

Pick up time: 9am

Lima capital city of Peru, it has a privileged location with such amazing and reach sea and sea food, and also very good connections with the Andes and the jungle places of Peru, that is why Lima is a real gastronomical capital in south America and also in the world too, beside of all this amazing privileged, this city offer to you an amazing combination of history and that is why is divided of Lima the old and the modern area, so tour with as this old are where is located Plaza Mayor or the main square, in where is located our presidential palace and the cathedral of Lima, them make a walk to San Francis monastery, visit inside the catacombs which it was the cemetery of Lima during the colonial time, also walk along the very intact and colonial streets, so all this rich history of this city center area is consider UNESCO heritage.

Free afternoon and be host in hotel located in Miraflores district, which is the modern area.

Day 3: Lima – Cusco

Early fly from Lima to Cusco, in the morning arrive to Cusco the former capital of the ancient Inkas, Cusco is located at 3340 meters / 10,857 feet above sea level.  We transfer you to your hotel. Is important to rest in order to adjust to the altitude, after this rest we star our walking exploration of the city, one of our first places to see is the Cathedral of Cusco which is possible to enjoy all this colonial art which is a big influence of Spain and the catholic religion but also is possible to understand the fusion of the colonial Spanish time with the influence of the pre-Columbian era, which make the mixture of what Peruvians is now days, after this wonderful visit we continue to Koricancha the magnificent ancient inka temple, which the foundations still possible to see the original and most important architecture of flourishing time of inkas, in between this two places is possible to see the magnificent plaza de armas of Cusco (main square), walking through the original inka streets that last till now days, and the vibrant life of this wonderful city, so Cusco is so important of the history not only for Peru also for the world, that is the reason why was declared UNESCO heritage in the 1983.

Day 4: Cusco

Pick up time: 9:00am

In the Morning we tour the Inca monuments outside of the city, visit Saqsayhuaman the enormous fortified temple with its massive ramparts of hewn stone, also the Q´enqo where the inkas carve in the same natural formation of rock the sacrificial table, Puka Pukara the inka fortress, this exploration is taken during the morning, so return to Cusco and free afternoon.

Day 5: Cusco – Ollantaytambo – Maras – Moray

Pick up time: 8:30am

First drive to Ollantaytambo for approximately 2 hours, along the drive is possible to enjoy and see this magnificent mountains part of the Andean range, one stop along the way in order to appreciate this wonderful landscapes, as soon you arrived to Ollantaytambo, explore the magnificent town, where many buildings display original Inca stone foundations. The adjacent Sun Temple offers some of the finest stone construction with huge boulders of rocks that where brought from almost 8km (5 miles) long. After this exploration we continue to Urubamba in order to enjoy our lunch, and after lunch explore the Maras salt mine where the peasants from the countryside of Maras work making polls of salt and selling their products in the market around the sacred valley and even in Cusco city, after that visit Moray the circular terraces where the Inka culture or the Andean culture domesticate so many plants, return to Cusco.

Day 6: Cusco – Pisaq inka site and Market

Pick up time 09:00am

Drive to Pisaq town and visit the huge Inca site above the village, Pisaq is very large monument and very beautiful location so is possible to explore in very slow and gentle way but is an optional hike you can do, so hardly recommend you if you have the conditions to do the hike of 2 and a half hours to the sun temple (inti watana) or even to the town of Pisaq 3 to 4 hours, so is going to be optional, lunch in Pisaq town and in the afternoon before to return to Cusco explore and enjoy the small local market. Arrived to Cusco at 5pm.

Please tonight must repack an overnight back in order to send buy train in the morning of the following day to Machupicchu pueblo. And for the hike you must have a day pack in where goes rain jacket, box lunch, and personal belonging for the hike day.

Day 7: Cusco – Machupicchu

Pick up time: 5:30am

Early in the morning we pick you up and then transfer you to the Poroy train station, located 45 minutes away from Cusco, so take the train to Machupicchu for 3 an a half hours, this is an amazing ride buy train, because you star at the mountains of Cusco area, ride through this nice Plateau of anta, and then take the Pomatales cannon in order to reach the sacred valley of the inkas and the Ollantaytambo train station, the train will stop in this train station in order to pick up some of the tourist that been host along the sacred valley of the inkas, so then the ride continue and enter in to Machupicchu areas which one offers very nice views because you will fell how the ecosystem change, as soon as you reach Machupicchu train station you will enter into the cloud forest, this eco system is very unique and very fragile, and it looks like the jungle but is not, also the mountains will get very steep at this point, is a place of dense vegetation and lush area.

Once we reach Machupicchu train station, our staff from the hotel will be waiting for us where we reorganize and leaved our overnight backs and only explore with our day packs Machupicchu inka site. We climb by bus to Machupicchu to have a tour, for most people the highlight of the trip is the visit the greatest inka site in the world, the lost city of Machu Picchu. This is one of the architectural and engineering marvels of the ancient world, in a mountain setting of staggering immensity. The Spaniards never found it, the Incas left no records about it, so Machu Picchu remains a great enigma, a city lost for centuries in the jungle

Day 8: Machupicchu – Cusco

Today is an optional day where you can chose of having a rest and relaxing morning before you return to Cusco from Machupicchu area or make some activities like just return to Machupicchu for your second visit (must be booked entrance fee that cost 152 Peruvian soles or 43 USD ), or if you want a bit more active exploration.

Is possible to do optional hikes in Machupicchu like, Huayna Picchu mountain takes approximately 2 hours round trip hike and also is a bit steep hike too, specially at the end of the mountain, or Machupicchu mountain takes like 3 a half hours round trip it is longer and a bit more challenge than Huaynapicchu and at the end also turns steep, there is limits of places for those two hikes, so we have to book in advance if you want some of those specially Huaynapicchu mountain. Also, must add another different entrance ticket which the cost is 200 Peruvian soles or (55 US dollars)

Day 9:. Cusco – Lima – international fly home

In the morning depending on your international fly conection transfer to the airport in Cusco and fly to Lima and from Lima home.
